Frequently Asked Question

Range Hood

You can choose a range hood by two measurements

  • The length of the current cooking appliance
  • The length between side cabinets (if applicable)

Our JQG7505 (30in V Series) and EMG9030 (36in W series) have the highest CFM of all range hoods. You can contact Customer Support to see which series is the best fit.

Our Pixie Air series can be installed as a recirculating range hood. You will have to purchase a recirculating kit at the price of $100

You can send pictures of your kitchen environment to serviceusa@fotile.com so we can take a look to see which model is the best fit. Making a new flue may require permission from the HOA so please contact them for more information

Our Pixie Air Series supports rear vent but please confirm two points.

  • The first thing to confirm is what size duct is used in the rear vent of your house. The rear of our Pixie series needs a rectangular vent (10 inches x 3 1/4 inches) if it is a round pipe, it may not be suitable.
  • The distance from the top edge of the rear duct to the bottom of the upper cabinet is 15/16 inches, approx. an inch. If your kitchen’s original rear duct is not in this position, it will have to be renovated.

If you need to re-do the vent, it is recommended that you do the upper vent, the effect will be better.

This will depend on the model you have purchased:
Slant Vent Series & Perimeter Vent Series will need a 6in round duct
Pixie Air series will need 7in round duct (top-vent) or10in x 3 ¼ in (rear vent)

This will depend on the model you have purchased:
Slant Vent Series: 29.5 in to 32.5 in (from the cooktop to the bottom of the upper cabinet
Pixie Air series: 32 in to 36 in (from the cooktop to the bottom of the upper cabinet)
EMS9018: 25 ⅝ - 29 ½ (from the cooktop to the bottom of the control panel)
EMG9030: 25 ⅝ - 27 9/16 (from the cooktop to the bottom of the range hood)

Fotile provides customers with an industry-leading warranty policy! All range hoods purchased on our authorized channels after 11/2019, will receive a 5-year limited warranty, including 2 years for labor and parts, and 3-5 years for parts but not labor. The motor enjoys a lifetime limited warranty.

You can try to locate a local contractor near you or use Home Advisor to check. Our technical specialists can provide remote guidance.

Please contact Customer Support with your zip code and we can check to see if we can recommend a local contractor. We have partnered with 3rd party installation technicians in over 50 cities nationwide, we trained them to know how to install FOTILE range hoods, and normally we recommend them to customers if needed.

Basic installation is priced around $200, which includes removing the old range hood, opening a hole on the bottom of the upper cabinet, mounting the Fotile range hood, connecting the aluminum flex pipe, cleaning the site, explaining the use and maintenance knowledge (excluding auxiliary materials used in the process such as aluminum flex pipe, adapter, decoration plate, etc.). If the contractor’s location is more than 20 miles from your location, the contractor will charge $1/mile for the trip (one-way calculation) which the customer is responsible for.

Wall holes and the arrangement of smoke pipes need to be discussed with the technician according to the situation of the house. The technician will give you a reasonable quotation. (Need to make an appointment with the technician to install the time)

They are independent service contractors and not Fotile's employees. There aren't any contractual constraints or economic relationships with them.

  • Lastly, please make sure that the mounting bracket are fixed to the studs in the wall (to avoid any damages).

Slant Vent Series

For 36in cooktops, we highly recommend installing a 36in range hood, which will prevent outrunning smoke since a JQG7505 will not be able to cover a 36in cooktop.

Normally, yes. This will depend on where exactly the hole is made in the cabinet and if an adapter will fit while having a smooth flue at the same time. Please send a picture to Customer Support and confirm.

No. The V series including JQG7501, JQG7502, and JQG7505 can only be vented from the top of the range hood.

JQG7505: 620 CFM (EQUIV. 1000 CFM)
JQG7501/JQG7502/JQG9001: 530 CFM (EQUIV. 850 CFM)

No, our Slant Vent Series has to be connected to a duct that will take the smoke out.

There are three main differences between 7501 and 7502:

  • JQG7502 is controlled by mechanical buttons,  while JQG7501 is touch screen controls.
  • The baffle plate is always open and cannot be closed for the JQG7502 while the JQG7501 can.
  • There is no delayed shutdown function for our JQG7502.

There are two main differences between 7502 and 7522:

  • JQG7522 has packaging that is more suitable for long distance shipping. For ex: If you buy online, we will send you 7522, which is more suitable for long-distance.
  • JQG7502 has stainless steel color buttons while JQG7522 has black buttons.

All functions and specifications are exactly the same for both models.

The main difference is that the JQG7505 has the industry's first dual DC motor. The direct benefit to customers that it has high suction and low noise. There is also the function of Wave On/Off the switch and the stir-fry mode.

JQG7505 has the following parts in the box:Range hood, range hood bracket, Oil Cup, Duct Cover, Gasket, Product Users Manual, Warranty Card, Installation Paper Template, Screw bags.

Unfortunately, the Pixie Air Series is recommended to be installed  under a cabinet so the range hood can be fixed to the bottom of the cabinet to make sure it does not fall down.

This series has a minimum noise level of 37dB, the sound is very soft and has the best quality of noise compared to all of the range hood in the market.

The Capture Shield can be removed by: pulling down from the front end of the ring suction plate to a 45 degree angle, and then lifting it up to remove it. The two ring suction plates are divided into left and right. Please install them according to the indicators on the shield when you install them back, otherwise they will not be installed.

Please measure the height inside of the upper cabinet.

  • Making new flue: If the height of the upper cabinet is less than 13 inches, it will be difficult to create a smooth flue (which will affect the performance).
  • Existing Flue (less than 7in): The diameter of the air outlet of the Pixie Air series is 7 inches. You will need an adapter when installing.. If the height in the cabinet is lower than 14 inches, it may not be able to connect to the current duct. In addition, the bottom edge of the duct hole should be at least 8 inches from the bottom of the cabinet to ensure a smooth flue.
  • Existing Flue (7in): If the height in the cabinet is lower than 13 inches, it may not be able to connect to the current duct. In addition, the bottom edge of the duct hole should be at least 6 inches from the bottom of the cabinet to ensure a smooth flue.

Hello, our air outlet is 7 inches. We recommend using a 7-inch round duct. If you have a 6-inch duct in the kitchen, you can use the standard 7in-to-6in adapter (which can be purchased from Home Depot), and simply connect it to the 7-inch air outlet and wrap it with sealing tape.
Using a 6-inch round aluminum flex pipe has little effect on suction power and noise , and its effect can be almost ignored.

The Pixie Air series range hood uses an integrated oil tank, which is integrated at the rear end of the 2 Capture Shields. The oil will flow out of the smoke collecting cavity and be stored In the oil tank at the rear, generally after each cooking, you only need to remove the two capture shields and put them in the dishwasher or sink for cleaning. The Capture Shields is made of 304 stainless steel, which is very easy to clean.

Perimeter Vent Series

EMS9018: CFM (EQUIV. 1000 CFM)
EMG9030: CFM (EQUIV. 850 CFM)

EMG9030 is an upgraded version of EMS9018 which also has a Smart Wing-Like Surround Suction Plate.

  • This model can test the kitchen fumes, Intelligent Self-Adjusting according to the volume of cooking fumes: Equipped with Intelligent Self-Adjusting Smart Wing-liked Surround Suction Plate, which is able to adjust its elevation by 3.1-4.7inchs according to the volume of cooking fumes, closer to the “Golden Ventilation Zone” where the fumes spread on a large scale, ensuring that the butterfly wing can fully intercept the fumes in different speeds.
  • Intelligent Air Steward: Infrared sensor helps detecting the smoke concentration, ensuring powerful and quiet ventilation with perfect speed.
  • Brushless DC Motor, super-strong core power: offering strong power, with maximum static pressure up to 720Pa that overcomes wind resistance effortlessly; more powerful and efficient smoke extraction, ensuring smooth extraction even in peak hours.
  • Bionic wing impeller: reduce the friction with the air, reduce the sound by 40db.

The EMS9018 or EMG9030 comes with a 8ft ceiling applied adjustable decorative cover. If the ceiling of the kitchen is 9ft or 10ft, an extended decorative cover will be needed.

The highest speed for EMS9018 is 3.9 on the highest speed setting.

Of course. You will need a 7in-to-6in adapter/reducer which can be purchased from Home Depot.

Normally, we will not recommend and it may not actually fit. The depth of the decorative cover of the range hood is 15.56": For most kitchen cabinets, it will not fit inside the cabinets.

In this case, we will recommend to remove the upper cabinet and simply use the decorative cover.

Please confirm these two measurements:

  • The height from the bottom edge of the hole on the wall to the top of the cooktop: Both models require this height to be at least 60 inches. Anything lower will require remodeling the flue.
  • The size of the duct in the kitchen: The air outlet is 6in in diameter for both products. Anything lower than 6in is not recommended.

Cleaning Guide

Range Hood

All FOTILE range hoods, whether it's Slant Vent Series or Pixie Air Series, after cooking, you only need a piece of paper towel and wipe the surface for a minute or two to complete the surface cleaning. The interior has a very sophisticated design, and the needs of customers have been fully considered. Based on your usage, it generally takes about two years for deep cleaning. Deep cleaning is not required, and it will not affect the suction and discharge performance, because our impeller is metal which  is very strong. Under the action of centrifugal force, there will be an oil film on the surface, but it will never be messy like a small impeller of a general brand that affects performance or causes additional noise.

WARNING: Abrasive detergents, such as a salt solution, disinfectant or bleach powder cannot be used to clean the appliance. Wipe off the detergent with a wet, soft cloth. Next, use another cloth to dry the appliance.

Please use Neutral Kitchen Degreaser/detergent to clean stains on the range hood. Wipe some detergent on the stains and let the detergent sit. Do not let the detergent sit for an extended period of time, as it can cause damages to the appliance’s surface. Then, wipe off the stain with a soft cloth and the left detergent with a slightly wet cloth.

To clean stains and protect stainless steel parts of the range hood (including oil cup and filter),  customers can consider Stainless Steel Cleaners to protect and resist fingerprints, watermarks & grease; while also repelling dust and dirt.

WARNING: Do not clean the appliance with abrasive tools, such as steel wool, brushes, and coarse cloths, as these materials will permanently scratch the surface of the hood. Please use soft kitchen cloths to clean the surface such as Microfiber Dish Cloths, Paper Towel, and/or etc.

Steam Oven

Daily/Usual Cleaning

After cooking, you must use a soft cloth to wipe off the residual condensate in the inner pan, door body and condensate tank.

- If there is condensation in the inner pan during cooking, put a sponge or absorbent cloth  into warm water that is mixed with neutral detergent and wipe off the condensation on the inner wall of the liner.

Reminder: Before cleaning the inner tank, take out the side brackets on both sides first(the brackets can be removed by unscrewing the fixed knobs on both sides) which will make the cleaning become easier. Before closing the steamer door, make sure that the inner pot is completely dry.

Descaling

It is recommended to do a descaling treatment for the product after using the steam oven for approximately 30 hours (regularly cleaning is highly recommended). FOTILE’s Steam Ovens has a descaling button (which you can refer to the manual for guidance)

- Cleaning products/kits can be purchased on Amazon. In addition, the manual mentions that food-grade citric acid can be used for descaling, can also be purchased on Amazon.

If the steamer is not used for a long time, it is recommended to pour all the water out of the water tank, thoroughly clean the water in the inner cavity of the product (making sure it is completely dry), and open the door to release the moisture inside to avoid peculiar smell.
